Yash Raj Films (YRF) is planning to enter the microdrama space as it looks to expand its digital presence and reach audiences directly through a new consumer app.

According to media reports, the production house is expected to invest around Rs 150 crore over the next few years to develop micro-drama content and build a direct-to-consumer platform to host it.

The initiative marks a shift towards shorter-form digital content alongside its traditional focus on films for theatres.

The new vertical will be led by YRF Chief Executive Officer Akshaye Widhani. Saugata Mukherjee, Head of Content at YRF Entertainment, has also joined to oversee creative development across streaming projects, films and microdramas.
