YRF Entertainment, the streaming business of Yash Raj Films, has appointed Saugata Mukherjee as Head of Content. In his new role, Mukherjee will oversee the development of films and series and will report to YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani.
Welcoming Mukherjee, Widhani said his extensive experience in the entertainment industry and understanding of changing audience preferences will be valuable for YRF Entertainment as it expands its content slate. He added that the company aims to create strong Indian stories with the potential to connect with audiences globally.
Yogendra Mogre will continue as Executive Producer for shows and will lead production at YRF Entertainment. He will work with Mukherjee and Widhani on developing the company's upcoming content projects.
Mukherjee most recently served as Head of Content and Executive Vice President at SonyLIV. He was responsible for the platform's content strategy, original programming and commissioning across multiple genres and languages.
During his time at SonyLIV, the platform strengthened its position in India's premium streaming market with shows such as *Scam 1992*, *Maharani*, *Rocket Boys*, *Gullak* and *Freedom at Midnight*.
Mukherjee has also been involved in projects that received international recognition. *Aarya*, which he produced for Disney+ Hotstar, and *Rocket Boys* for SonyLIV, were nominated at the International Emmy Awards.
Before SonyLIV, Mukherjee was involved in bringing HBO Max to India. He was also part of the early leadership team at Hotstar, now JioHotstar, and contributed to its growth into a major global streaming platform.
His career spans content strategy, streaming platform launches, digital transformation, content monetisation and building creative teams. At YRF Entertainment, he will use this experience to shape the company's upcoming film and series slate.
