Akhil Mehra will be joining Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) as Commercial Head, sources have told exchange4media.
As per the sources, Mehra will be taking over the position vacated by Mihir Sanghvi, who was the Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial, Procurement and Sustainability.

Mehra, who has spent around two decades in Star India, was most recently Vice President, Commercial and Procurement for International Content, Kids and Infotainment at Star TV Network, a role he has held since August 2019.
Prior to this, in August 2017, he took on the role of Vice President and Commercial and Procurement Head for the Hindi Movies cluster at Disney Star.
Mehra headed the commercial function for the English portfolio channels at Star TV Network as Vice President from July 2012. Earlier, between July 2009 and June 2012, he served as Assistant Vice President and Head of Network Compliance for the English channels portfolio at Star India. He had joined Star India in October 2006 as Senior Manager.
Before entering the media industry, Mehra worked in the insurance sector. He joined Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited as Senior Manager in June 2005 and exited in September 2006.
