Content creator and entrepreneur Ankur Warikoo has announced the shutdown of his online education and upskilling business, despite the venture generating over Rs 100 crore in sales and Rs 25 crore in profits since its launch in 2020.

Sharing the news on social media platform X, Warikoo described the decision as a difficult but necessary one, stating that continuing the business “did not make sense” anymore.

“We’ve grown beyond what I could have imagined since we started in 2020. 5 lakh students. 100 crores in sales. 25 crores in profits. But it makes no sense to continue it,” he wrote.

The creator added that he would elaborate on the reasons behind the closure and discuss his future plans in a video scheduled for May 16 at 8:30 PM IST.

Warikoo entered the online education space during the pandemic-led digital boom, offering courses focused on productivity, personal finance, communication and career growth. Over the years, he built a large online audience, with more than seven million subscribers on YouTube, nearly four million followers on Instagram, and a significant presence on X.

The announcement triggered widespread discussion on social media, with several users speculating whether the rise of artificial intelligence tools and freely available online resources influenced the decision. Responding to one such comment, Warikoo hinted at AI’s growing impact on the learning ecosystem, replying: “It should. And it has.”

Others questioned whether the move was part of a larger strategic pivot or the beginning of another venture.

The development comes at a time when India’s creator-led education and upskilling market is witnessing rapid shifts, with AI tools, free learning platforms and changing consumer behaviour reshaping the sector.
