With more than three decades of professional experience, Puri has worked at the intersection of capital, creativity and business strategy. His career began in the financial sector, where he interned with Morgan Stanley in 1994 during his MBA, gaining exposure to its New York and Mumbai operations.
He subsequently joined J.P. Morgan, where he worked between 1995 and 2000. During this period, he was involved in raising nearly $1 billion for private companies across sectors including media, technology and healthcare. The experience established the financial foundation for his subsequent ventures into entrepreneurship and media.
Puri's entrepreneurial journey took shape with Miracle Entertainments, where he invested in an internet venture that later partnered with the Tata Group. He also ventured into film production through Miracle Cinefilms, producing the critically acclaimed film Being Cyrus.
His association with the Times Group marked another significant phase of his career. Between 2004 and 2007, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., overseeing businesses spanning events management, out-of-home advertising and filmed entertainment.
During this period, he managed prominent entertainment properties, including the Filmfare Awards, Femina Miss India and Mr. India. He also contributed to the launch of Times Out of Home and the public listing of Entertainment Network India Limited (ENIL) in 2006.
Puri subsequently took charge as Chief Operating Officer of Mirchi Movies Limited, a Times Group subsidiary, between 2007 and 2009. During his tenure, the company achieved a valuation exceeding 15 times its initial corpus. He was also involved in an intellectual property rights case concerning Warner Bros., working alongside legal professionals Arun Jaitley and Prathiba Singh.
The next decade saw him establish Indian Film Advisors and Indian Financial Advisors, ventures that combined his experience in financial advisory with his understanding of the content business. Between 2009 and 2019, these firms worked across entertainment ventures and financial advisory services.
In 2019, Puri co-founded Rainbox Studios, a division of Rainshine, marking a significant step in his journey as a content entrepreneur. The studio focused on developing film and television projects with an emphasis on original storytelling and international audiences.
Its portfolio has included projects such as Young Captain Nemo, Sahir Ludhianvi: The Wizard of Words, Spy King and Tamak: The Rage Within. Feature film projects have included Bijoya, Delivery Boy and Jhamela.
Among his notable ventures was Ulta Fullta, a cricket-based game show featuring prominent cricketers including Irfan Pathan, Shoaib Akhtar, Brett Lee and Ajit Agarkar, alongside actor Nakuul Mehta.
Puri's association with Rainshine continued through his role as Chief Relationship Officer and Financing Lead at RainBlox between 2021 and 2023. The position involved managing partnerships and financing strategies across India, the United States, the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
Since October 2023, he has served as CEO – Content Assets at Rainshine Global Inc. on a consultancy basis, bringing together his experience in financial structuring, international partnerships and entertainment ventures.
