Renault’s Luca de Meo resigns; joins Kering as CEO

Luca de Meo, a seasoned executive with more than three decades of experience in the automotive industry, is set to take the helm at Kering, the French multinational group renowned for its portfolio of luxury brands. The company announced his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in an official statement.

The decision was initiated by François-Henri Pinault, Chairman of Kering’s Board of Directors. According to the announcement, de Meo will formally assume his new role on September 15, 2025.

“I would like to thank François-Henri Pinault and the Board of Directors for choosing me to lead Kering into this new phase of development. I am approaching this new professional challenge with enthusiasm, eagerness, and confidence, inspired by the strength of the Group’s brands and the expertise of its people. I am convinced that together we will continue to make Kering an essential player in the luxury industry,” de Meo said.

de Meo began his career at Renault in 1992 before moving on to leadership roles at Toyota Europe, Fiat Group, and the Volkswagen Group. At Audi AG, he served on the Management Board with responsibility for Sales and Marketing. He later became President of SEAT and CUPRA from 2015 to 2020 and served on the supervisory boards of Ducati and Lamborghini. He also held the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors for Volkswagen Group Spain.

Since July 2020, de Meo has served as CEO of Renault Group and has been a member of its Management Board since January 2021. Between 2021 and early 2023, he also led the Renault brand as CEO. In recognition of his professional accomplishments, he was named Bocconi Alumnus of the Year in 2017.
