Senior journalist Ravish Ranjan Shukla, Associate Editor at NDTV India, has shared a tribute to veteran journalist Priyadarshan following his retirement from the news network after a distinguished 25-year career. In a Facebook post, Shukla reflected on his long professional association with Priyadarshans.
Fondly referred to as “PD Sir” within the organisation, Priyadarshan was known for his deep knowledge across a wide range of subjects, including cinema, cricket and current affairs. However, Shukla noted that it was his precise writing style, editorial judgement and unwavering commitment to factual journalism that earned him the greatest respect among colleagues.
“Few people could write a news story in such measured and effective language with so few words,” he wrote.
Shukla also highlighted Priyadarshan’s leadership style during his tenure as Output Head at NDTV India. Despite holding a senior editorial position, he never imposed his views on junior colleagues, encouraging open discussion and debate on editorial matters.
Shukla said he had shared an 18-year professional relationship with Priyadarshan as both a mentor and colleague, describing him as a guiding presence whose advice he would continue to seek in the future.
