NS Rajan has stepped down as Director of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI), marking the completion of ten years on the Board, including his tenure as Chairman in 2022–23.
Announcing his departure in a LinkedIn post, Rajan reflected on what he described as a rewarding decade with the self-regulatory body for advertising in India. “It’s hard to believe that ten years have gone by in a blink since I first joined the ASCI Board,” he wrote, adding that, “What began as a responsibility quickly became something I genuinely enjoyed specially the CCC meetings which were most insightful”.
Over the past decade, Rajan said he witnessed ASCI evolve in response to ‘new media, emerging challenges and newer expectations’, while maintaining its focus on thoughtful and ethical regulation.
Reflecting on his term as Chairman in 2022–23, Rajan described the launch of the ASCI Academy as one of the most meaningful milestones of his tenure. He said the initiative represented an important step in shaping the next generation of responsible advertising in India.
Rajan expressed gratitude to his fellow Board members for their commitment and support. He concluded his note stating, “It has been an honour to be part of ASCI’s giant leap over the last decade, and I am sure ASCI will grow in strength in the coming years and I will be cheering its every initiative from the sidelines.”
