Peshwa Acharya, who celebrates his birthday today, has spent more than three decades in leadership roles across industries including FMCG, retail, telecom, technology, e-commerce, hospitality, and healthcare. His career reflects a trajectory of building brands, launching businesses, and leading transformations across diverse sectors.
Acharya began his career in FMCG, working with Procter & Gamble and Reckitt. During this period, he contributed to the creation and expansion of well-known household brands such as Ariel, Whisper, Dettol (soap and liquid variants), Mortein, Harpic, Babool and Promise toothpastes, Meswak toothpaste, Odonil, Odopic and Odomos. These experiences gave him a grounding in consumer behaviour and brand positioning at scale.
His responsibilities later expanded into retail and telecom with Reliance. At Reliance Retail, Acharya was part of the leadership team that launched and scaled business formats including Reliance Digital, Reliance Fresh, Reliance Mart, Reliance Autozone, and the Apple i-Store by Reliance Digital. In telecom, he was associated with Reliance Mobile and 3G, helping to build early adoption in the Indian market.
In the hospitality sector, he played a role in repositioning and growing businesses such as Sterling Holidays and Nature Trails. His work included shifts in the business model to adapt to changing consumer preferences, operational improvements, and marketing strategies to expand reach and improve performance.
Beyond corporate leadership, Acharya has also pursued entrepreneurial ventures. He founded GrowthShyft, Think As Consumer, and Leven Health Care. Through these initiatives, he has engaged in strategic consulting, mentoring, and healthcare delivery. In healthcare, his focus has included the development of dialysis centres across western India, contributing to infrastructure in the sector.
