The Build India Infra Awards 2025 celebrated India’s most groundbreaking infrastructure projects, recognizing their impact, innovation, and sustainability. The event brought together distinguished leaders, policymakers, and industry experts, reinforcing India’s journey toward a future-ready infrastructure ecosystem.
Union Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, in his virtual address, highlighted the government’s commitment to infrastructure growth, with ₹11.21 trillion allocated in Budget 2025-26. He emphasized that these investments in roads, railways, and aviation would drive economic development and job creation. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu announced a ₹23,000 crore capital expenditure to develop 120 new airports, reinforcing India’s ambition to become the world’s No.1 aviation market by 2047.
Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, underlined the critical role of infrastructure in India’s transformation from a $4 trillion to a $30 trillion economy. He noted that world-class expressways, metros, and solar expansions are playing a vital role in this growth. The awards, founded by Vaibhav Dange, a public policy expert, aim to honor projects that contribute to India’s rapid infrastructure development.
This year, the awards expanded their scope beyond roads, railways, ports, airports, and metro projects to include water infrastructure, power transmission, and trailblazing special infra categories.
In the Civil Aviation category, the Airports Authority of India (Pune Airport) won the Impact Award for enhancing connectivity and passenger experience. The Sustainability Award went to GMR Group (Goa Airport) for operating a carbon-neutral, IGBC Platinum-certified airport with green initiatives like rainwater harvesting and solar power.
In Railways, the Impact Award was given to Northern Railway, KRCL & IRCON for providing critical connectivity to the Kashmir Valley via the Chenab Bridge. The Innovation Award went to the University of New South Wales for its data-driven insights benefiting India’s rail network.
For Ports, the Innovation Award was given to Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd for improving operational efficiency. The Impact Award went to Dakshin Bharat Gateway Terminal, which eased congestion at Chennai Port. The Sustainability Award was won by Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) for implementing shore power, renewable energy, and smart logistics, increasing annual carbon savings from 10,000 to 53,723 tonnes.
In Water Infrastructure, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) won the Impact Award for providing drinking water to 30 lakh people in Mumbai’s western suburbs. Medha Servo Drives Pvt Ltd was awarded for innovation, while Visjwaraj Environment Pvt Ltd was recognized for sustainability.
For Urban Transport, the Impact Award went to Mumbai Metro (Lines 2A & 7) for revolutionizing urban transit with driverless trains. Maha Metro received the Sustainability Award for its innovative three-layer transport system. Larsen & Toubro, J Kumar Infra, and Maha Metro won Innovation Awards for their work on the Delhi-Meerut corridor, Pune Metro, and BKC station, respectively.
A new category, Trailblazing Special Infra, was introduced to recognize India’s most ambitious projects. Maccaffri Environmental Solutions Pvt Ltd was honored for landslide mitigation in Badrinath. NICDC won for developing India’s largest exhibition-cum-convention center. APCO Shri Amarnathji Tunnelway Pvt Ltd was recognized for providing all-weather tunnel connectivity in Kashmir.
In Roads & Highways, the Impact Award was given to Ashoka Buildcon for reducing travel time to MOPA Airport. Larsen & Toubro won the Innovation Award for designing Mumbai’s Coastal Road Project, reducing travel time from 45 minutes to just 8 minutes. The Sustainability Award was jointly won by L&T and Cube Highways for using advanced recycling technologies in road construction.
For Power Transmission, Larsen & Toubro won both the Innovation and Impact Awards for its contributions to nationally significant projects.
The event also featured panel discussions on India’s Water and Power Sector Transformation and Infrastructure as an Economic Enabler for Viksit Bharat 2047. Experts discussed how technology, sustainability, and strategic investments are shaping India’s growth.
With an esteemed jury panel of bureaucrats and industry leaders, the Build India Infra Awards 2025 reinforced its role in recognizing infrastructure excellence. As India pushes towards its $5 trillion economy vision, these awards honor the changemakers driving the nation’s progress.
