At the Reliance Industries AGM 2026, Akash Ambani announced that Jio is developing artificial intelligence systems designed natively in Indian languages, rather than following the conventional approach of building in English and translating later.

Highlighting Jio's vision for inclusive AI adoption, Ambani reportedly said the company is creating AI solutions that enable users across India to interact with technology in their preferred languages, making digital services more accessible to millions.

"Unlike global AI platforms that build in English and translate later, Jio is building AI natively in Indian languages. Bharat ka AI Bhartiya Bhasha mei bolega. Bharat ke dilon ko jodega. Bharat ki tasveer aur takdeer badlega," Ambani was quoted as saying by media reports.

Describing the initiative as a step towards building an India-centric AI ecosystem, he added, "What we are building is AI for India. AI by India. AI that will one day serve the world."

The move underscores Jio's focus on developing homegrown AI capabilities tailored to India's linguistic diversity, with the aim of accelerating digital inclusion and adoption at scale.
