Actor Raveena Tandon recently served as a jury member at the E4M Play Streaming Media Awards. The awards, which celebrate excellence in India’s burgeoning streaming ecosystem, recognise platforms and creators who push the boundaries of digital storytelling. Sharing her thoughts during her jury interaction, Tandon emphasised the importance of continuous growth, evolution, and inclusivity in the ever-changing media landscape.

“There’s always room for growth, and one should never stop learning because that’s what evolution is all about,” Tandon reflected. She highlighted the need for artists and creators to adapt to the rapid advancements in technology, urging them to “push yourself, challenge yourself with everything.”

Acknowledging the transformation in content creation, Tandon pointed out how digital platforms are opening up new avenues for women, both in front of and behind the camera. “I’m very happy to say there’s a lot of inclusiveness for women, because most of these platforms are also run by women,” she noted, emphasising how this shift is creating unprecedented opportunities for female actors and creators.

Drawing from her own career, Tandon expressed satisfaction in having portrayed powerful, female-led roles long before the current wave of inclusivity. She mentioned her experiences working in films like Matra, Shool, Satta, and Daman, where she embraced characters that challenged her as an actor. “Earlier too, we had films that had women at center stage, and I’ve had the privilege of playing such strong roles,” she said, underscoring her commitment to projects that break conventional molds.

Tandon also reflected on her long-standing commitment to social causes, well before the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) gained traction. “In the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, we didn’t have CSR. But unintentionally, I did what you now call CSR,” she shared. Recounting her earlier efforts, Tandon recalled how she would involve orphaned children in media shoots and festive celebrations, ensuring that they felt included and celebrated.

Now, her philanthropic efforts are streamlined under the Rudra Foundation, which consolidates her work in areas such as girl child education, women’s empowerment, and elder care. “Earlier, I followed in my mother’s footsteps, who worked extensively for charitable institutions. Now, all of that is more organised under one umbrella,” she explained, highlighting her dedication to structured and sustained social impact.

As part of the jury at the E4M Play Streaming Media Awards, Tandon expressed her excitement about witnessing the “magic unfold” in the streaming space. “It’s always fun to be within and with my colleagues, some of them seniors, some of them peers, to see how this industry continues to evolve,” she said.

With her deep-rooted passion for change, inclusivity, and creativity, Raveena Tandon continues to be an inspiring force in Indian entertainment—pushing boundaries both on and off the screen.
