Dabur India cuts YoY ad spends by 14%

Ad spends stood at Rs 201.96 crore in Q1 FY26, down from Rs 236 crore in the same period last year

Dabur India Ltd reported a strong quarter-on-quarter recovery for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, even as the company reduced its spending on advertisement and publicity. Ad spends stood at Rs 201.96 crore in Q1 FY26, up 14.5 percent from Rs 176.40 crore in the March quarter, but down 14.4 percent compared to Rs 235.89 crore in the same period last year.

Despite the year-on-year cut in marketing expenses, Dabur posted a net profit of Rs 494.35 crore, marking a robust 58.1 percent jump over Rs 312.73 crore in the preceding quarter. However, profit was down 2.7 percent from Rs 508.29 crore reported in Q1 FY25.

Revenue from operations came in at Rs 3,404.58 crore, rising 20.3 percent quarter-on-quarter from Rs 2,830.14 crore and up 1.7 percent year-on-year from Rs 3,349.11 crore. Total income stood at Rs 3,548.55 crore, up 19.4 percent from Rs 2,971.29 crore in the March quarter and 2.0 percent higher than Rs 3,478.51 crore in the year-ago period.

Segment-wise, the consumer care business generated Rs 2,704.92 crore in revenue, growing 20.0 percent over Rs 2,254.98 crore in Q4 FY25 and 4.6 percent over Rs 2,585.06 crore in Q1 FY25. The food business posted revenue of Rs 620.86 crore, up 24.1 percent quarter-on-quarter from Rs 500.48 crore and 8.2 percent year-on-year from Rs 573.83 crore.

The retail business contributed Rs 26.16 crore, compared to Rs 24.56 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 23.79 crore a year ago. Other segments added Rs 43.84 crore in revenue, while unallocated operating income stood at Rs 8.80 crore.

The first quarter saw steady growth across key verticals like Digestives, Toothpaste, Hair Care, Skin Care, and Home Care. While unseasonal rains during peak summer months impacted the performance of our summer-centric portfolio, particularly in categories like beverages and Glucose, our diversified product mix and agile supply chain helped cushion the impact and maintain overall momentum.   

Riding on growing demand for their flagship Dabur Red Paste and the premium brand Meswak, Dabur's Toothpaste business reported a 7. 3% growth during the first quarter. The 100% Fruit Juice portfolio under the Real Activ brand grew by 20%, while the Digestives portfolio grew by 7.7%. The Home Care business posted a 10.1% jump. The Skin & Salon portfolio also grew by 9.2% while the Hair Care business posted a 7% secondary growth during the quarter. The domestic Badshah business grew by 6.5% in Q1.

"This performance was anchored by solid market share gains across 95% of our portfolio, reflecting the trust of our consumers, the resilience of our brands and the agility of our teams to navigate challenges and deliver ahead of expectations," Dabur India Limited Chief Executive Officer Mr. Mohit Malhotra said.   

The company further stated, "Dabur's International Business reported a 13. 7% growth in constant currency terms. The UK business reported a 41% growth while the Turkey business grew by 36%. Our Namaste business grew by 30%, Sub-Saharan Africa grew by 20%, and MENA reported a 10.1% growth. The Bangladesh business also reported a 10. 2% Constant Currency growth."
