Amit Verma, Founder and CEO of DigitUp, recently shared his insights on the future of digital commerce, AI integration, and business strategy in an exclusive conversation for TechTalk. As a leader in web development and digital transformation, Verma discussed the evolving role of AI, the challenges startups face, and the shift towards headless web development.

Speaking on the major trends shaping digital commerce in 2025, Verma emphasised that AI is no longer an emerging technology but a fundamental force reshaping industries. "Over the last four or five years, every year brings new advancements in AI. Enterprise-level technologies are constantly embedding AI-driven capabilities," he said. He highlighted the growing adoption of no-code solutions, predicting a future where businesses will rely on AI-powered virtual devices rather than traditional infrastructure. "Maybe Google or another major player will introduce a device that functions as an all-in-one virtual resource, completely changing the way we operate," he added.

Verma also spoke about DigitUp’s commitment to innovation, revealing the company's upcoming AI-powered products. "We are working on two major solutions—a social media management tool and a fully automated website maintenance system called Digit Cube," he shared. He believes automation will be crucial in helping businesses scale efficiently while reducing costs.

Beyond technology, Verma touched upon the growing skills gap in the industry, pointing out that while AI courses have become widespread, the quality of talent remains inconsistent. "The challenge isn’t just about technology but also about people. Companies are struggling to find skilled professionals despite the abundance of AI courses and training programs," he said. This, coupled with the rapid pace of disruption, has made adaptability the most critical factor for businesses today. "We don’t wait for disruption anymore; we live within it," he stated.

While DigitUp works with large enterprises, Verma expressed a deep commitment to supporting startups, something he attributes to his own journey as a bootstrapped entrepreneur. "I believe startups succeed when they get the right guidance, especially in the digital space. We make sure to offer them strategic direction, not just services," he explained. He observed that many businesses continue using outdated web platforms due to a lack of proper advice. "The only thing holding them back is the right guidance. They may be hearing advice, but is it coming from credible sources?" he asked.

Verma also addressed the shift towards headless web development, a concept gaining traction in the industry. "Platforms like Shopify, WordPress, and Webflow were built as monolithic systems, meaning businesses must work within predefined structures. But as digital commerce evolves, companies need greater flexibility, which is where headless technology comes in," he explained. According to him, major brands are already adopting this approach, leveraging API-driven integrations to create more dynamic and scalable digital experiences.

Discussing work culture at DigitUp, Verma shared his leadership philosophy, which emphasises efficiency and long-term vision over rigid structures. "We don’t track timesheets; we focus on results. My approach is always to build systems that allow me to eventually exit a role and let the team take the lead," he said.

Reflecting on the challenges of AI adoption, Verma pointed out that many organisations are still uncertain about how to implement AI effectively. "I’ve had multiple meetings where the only question was: ‘How do we implement AI?’ The biggest challenge is not capability but adoption," he said.
