It’s never a dull moment in the marketing and advertising industry. Last week too saw some major dismissals as well as appointments, and wins. Havas Group bolstered its leadership strength with the appointment of Rana Barua as CEO of Havas Group India. Barua was last CEO – Group of Creativeland Asia.
Sridhar Ramaswamy stepped down as Google’s Advertising Chief. Ramaswamy, who joined Google in 2003, is said to have played a critical role in growing Googles’ ad revenue from $10 billion in 2013 to the current over $100 billion.
Sagar Mahabaleshwarkar, Chief Creative Officer of Cheil WW India decided to move on from the organisation to pursue new opportunities. Emmanuel Upputuru will be replacing him.
Eros International appointed Rafiq Gangjee as its new CMO. Previously this role was carried out by Prerna Singh, who has now moved to the content team as VP - Talent & Short Films.
The week also saw Sony Pictures Network and Tata Sky lock horns over channel drop. SPN issued a statement condemning Tata Sky for choosing to drop 22 SPN channels from its subscription, sources in Tata Sky claimed that the channels dropped barely comprise 3 per cent of viewership.
There were also few heart-warming campaigns such as by brands like luggage manufacturer Samsonite, who decided to take up the initiative to launch a campaign focusing on reviving the tourism in Kerala.
