The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed former domestic cricketer Mithun Manhas as its new Honorary President. The announcement was made following the board’s 94th Annual General Meeting, held in Mumbai on Sunday, September 28.

The 45-year-old Manhas, who represented Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir in first-class cricket and later turned coach, takes charge from Roger Binny, who stepped down after reaching the board’s age cap. With this move, Manhas becomes the first uncapped player, one who has never represented India at the international level to lead the BCCI, according to reports.

This marks the third instance of a cricketer heading the board, after Sourav Ganguly and Binny.

Alongside Manhas, Rajeev Shukla has been named Honorary Vice-President, bringing long-standing administrative experience to the board. Other appointments include Devajit Saikia as Honorary Secretary, Prabhtej Singh Bhatia as Honorary Joint-Secretary, and A. Raghuram Bhat as Honorary Treasurer.

The board also elected Jaydev Shah as the sole member of the Apex Council, while Arun Singh Dhumal and M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar were inducted into the Indian Premier League Governing Council.

The new leadership team is expected to oversee a crucial phase for Indian cricket, balancing governance, financial oversight, and the expansion of the sport across formats and platforms.
