BARC Week 15: Star Sports 1 Hindi, Dangal top 2 channels in overall market

The Kapil Sharma Show enters top 5 programme category in the urban market while Naagin 3 climbs up the ladder

In Week 15 of Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data, Star Sports 1 Hindi clinched the first position in the overall market with 1111416 impressions. Dangal is on the second position with 1084693 impressions and Sun TV at the third position with 859261 impressions.

For the last few weeks, Star Sports 1 Hindi and Dangal have closely contested for the top spot across genres. Dangal was on the top in Week 13 data, but in Week 14, Star Sports 1 Hindi clinched the first position.

In the top 5 programme category in Week 15, 'Mahima Shanidev Ki' on Dangal took the top spot with 11094 impressions. The second position was taken by yet another show aired on Dangal 'Ramayan' with 10349 impressions. Zee TV's 'Kumkum Bhagya' (10315 impressions) and 'Kundali Bhagya' (9352 impressions) took the third and fourth spots respectively. Colors' Naagin continued to be on the fifth position, as Week 14, with 8936 impressions.

 

Urban Market

Star Plus continues to reign supreme in the urban market with 436173 impressions. Sony Entertainment Television took the second spot with 373341 impressions. Colors and Zee TV maintained their third and fourth positions with 346222 and 322046 impressions respectively.

In the programme category, Naagin3 has managed to move up the list from the fifth position in Week 14 to third position in Week 15 with 5747 impressions. There is a new entrant to the list at number four, The ‘Kapil Sharma Show’, with 5742 impressions. The top-most position went to ‘Kumkum Bhagya with 5879 impressions followed by ‘Kulfi Kumar Bajewala’ with 5799 impressions. ‘Kundali Bhagya’ takes the fifth spot with 5548 impressions.

As for Hindi movies, Sony Max takes the lead again with 246988 impressions. The second spot went to Zee Cinema followed by Star Gold, Movies OK and &pictures. Despite being an IPL season, matches found no place on the list of top 5 programmes. 

 

Rural Market

In the top 10 channels category, Dangal topped with 839643 impressions. Big Magic is on the second spot with 578681 impressions, followed by Zee TV on the third spot. 

In the programme category, Dangal's 'Mahima Shani Dev Ki', 'Ramayan’ and ‘Sai Baba' took the top three spots in the Top 5 programme category in the rural section with 9101, 8449 and 5680 impressions respectively. In Week 14, the fourth position was taken up by a Dangal show called ‘Bandini’ but this time, it’s out of the list. Instead, Big Magic 'Maharakshak Aryan' has managed to move up the ladder to the fourth position with 5248 impressions followed by Big Magic’s ‘Paramavatar Shree Krishna’ in the fifth spot with 5050 impressions
