Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra top Bollywood reader engagement: Taboola report
Findings are based on Taboola’s analysis of open web search for Bollywood stars which included 50 mn readers, 40 thousand articles, 190 mn page views and 245 mn minutes of reading

A recent report, a first of its kind on Bollywood reader engagement has thrown up some surprises. The report titled ‘Bollywood Actors Reader Engagement' findings, capturing Indian readers' preference for actors, in terms of engagement time reading about actors on the open web, has named Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra with the highest number reader engagement. The report was recently released by leading discovery platform Taboola.
The report analysed reader engagement data of 37 Indian states and UTs for the leading 45 Bollywood stars, which includes 22 actors and 23 actresses. The report f The findings' are based on Taboola’s analysis of the open web searching leading Bollywood stars, which included 50 million readers, 40 thousand articles, 190 million page views and 245 million minutes of reading. As per the findings of the report, the second-highest reader engagement among male actors was for Amitabh Bachchan and among female actors for Shraddha Kapoor.
Aamir Khan emerged as the winner of most time spent on an actor by readers with 2.48 minutes per reader and 1.36 minutes per pageview. Salman Khan came at number 3 with 2.16 mins per reader and 0.31 mins per pageviews. The actor with the largest percentage of male readers was Emraan Hashmi, with nearly 80% to 20% women followed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. This is a stark contrast to what Hashmi is considered on screen.
In terms of the largest percentage of female readers, Sidharth Malhotra emerged as the top Bollywood male star with readers with nearly 46% of readership by women followed by Sushant Singh Rajput. Surprisingly, current box office biggies, which include actors like Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan and Alia Bhat, did not make it to the list.
