Hindustan Media Ventures Q2 revenue up nearly 8% YoY

Hindustan Media Ventures Ltd (HMVL) has reported a consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 196.87 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, marking a 14.5 per cent year-on-year increase from Rs 171.99 crore in the same quarter last year.
Sequentially, revenue grew 7.6 per cent from Rs 182.99 crore reported in the June 2025 quarter.
Total income for the quarter stood at Rs 224.92 crore, compared to Rs 209.71 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 207.15 crore a year ago. Total expenses rose to Rs 213.63 crore, up from Rs 193.33 crore in Q2 FY25.
Profit before tax came in at Rs 11.29 crore, up 53 percent year-on-year from Rs 7.37 crore in the same period last year, though slightly lower than Rs 11.77 crore in Q1 FY26. Net profit for the quarter stood at Rs 10.24 crore, compared to Rs 13.87 crore in the previous quarter and Rs 10.24 crore in Q2 FY25, reflecting a marginal year-on-year increase but a 26 percent sequential decline due to higher operating expenses.
For the half year ended September 30, 2025, HMVL reported total income of Rs 434.63 crore, up 9.4 percent from Rs 397.24 crore in the same period last year. Net profit for H1 FY26 stood at Rs 20.32 crore, compared to Rs 15.36 crore in H1 FY25, registering a 32 percent year-on-year increase.
The printing and publishing of newspapers and periodicals’ segment continued to dominate the company’s business, contributing Rs 175.25 crore in Q2 FY26, compared to Rs 163.35 crore in Q1 FY26 and Rs 158.16 crore a year earlier. This reflects a 10.8 percent year-on-year and 7.3 percent quarter-on-quarter rise.
The digital segment reported revenue of Rs 20.64 crore, growing 42.7 percent year-on-year from Rs 14.47 crore in Q2 FY25 and 12.2 percent quarter-on-quarter from Rs 18.39 crore.
Unallocated revenue stood at Rs 2.27 crore, up from Rs 1.56 crore in the previous quarter.
For the half year ended September 30, 2025, total segment revenue stood at Rs 381.46 crore, a 12.9 percent increase from Rs 338 crore in the first half of FY25. The printing and publishing business contributed Rs 338.60 crore, up 8.3 percent year-on-year, while the digital segment posted Rs 39.03 crore, a strong 66 percent year-on-year growth.
