19th Ramnath Goenka Awards on March 19; President Droupadi Murmu to be chief guest

The Indian Express group will host the 19th edition of the Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism on March 19 at The Oberoi in New Delhi. Honourable President Droupadi Murmu is the Chief Guest and will present the awards. 

This edition recognises the best of journalism from 2023. 

The stories, across 20 categories, have been selected by an eminent jury comprising B N Srikrishna, former Supreme Court judge; Prof C Raj Kumar, founding Vice Chancellor of O P Jindal Global University; Prof K G Suresh, former Vice Chancellor of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication and former Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication; Rohini Nilekani, Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies and Co-founder and Director of EkStep; and Dr S Y Quraishi, former Chief Election Commissioner. 

The Ramnath Goenka Awards for Excellence in Journalism were established by The Indian Express group in 2005 as part of the centenary celebrations of its founder Ramnath Goenka. Year after year, the awards have honoured print and broadcast journalists who have demonstrated exceptional strength of character and integrity while reporting news under challenging or dangerous circumstances.

In the past, the event has been graced by distinguished guests including Prime Minister Narendra Modi; former Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud; former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh; former President A P J Abdul Kalam; former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan; former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu; former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley; former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan; former Vice President Hamid Ansari; former President Pratibha Patil; and former Chief Justice of India P Sathasivam.
