Prasar Bharati makes amendments to policy guidelines for allotting DD Free Dish slots
These amendments have come into force from November 1
Prasar Bharati has released a statement, notifying further amendment to the “policy guidelines for allotment of slots of DD Free Dish Direct-to-Home Platform to satellite TV channels”.
These amendments came into force on November 1.
It has now scrapped Bucket A that included Hindi movie channels and expanded Bucket B by adding teleshopping (Hindi) to the existing list of genres like All Music (Hindi) Channels, Sports (Hindi) Channels, Movies (Bhojpuri), and GEC (Bhojpuri).
The amendments were approved by Prasar Bharati Board in a meeting held on October 23.
Prasar Bharati is now authorised to take a decision on reservation for the genre, and on the number of slots to be reserved deemed to be in public interest.
Another sub-clause has also been substituted to say that Prasar Bharati will make a provision to reserve some slots in the MPEG-4 stream for placement of foreign Public Service Broadcasting Channels.
It will also make a provision to reserve some slots in MPEG-4 stream for placement of co-branded channels on case to case basis, expansion into HD and placement of DD regional channels.
Moreover, in the case of five or more vacant slots, one slot will be reserved for each Bucket in the first round.
Prasar Bharati invites application from satellite TV channels for allotment of MPEG-2 slots of DD FreeDish DTH platform from 1 December 2019 - 29 February 2020 through 42nd online e-auction.
The public broadcaster invites applications to fill up MPEG-2 slots of DD FreeDish- DTH Platform on a pro-rata basis for the same period. The official statement said that an e-auction, if required, will be held on 15 November 2019.
Only channels licensed by the Ministry of I&B would be allowed to participate in the allocation. The last date to submit the application is 13 November 2019.For more updates, be socially connected with us on
