At the 48th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Akash Ambani, Non-Executive Director, announced that JioStar is well on track to serve a billion screens across mobile, television (TV), and connected TV (CTV) devices.

JioStar is a joint venture between Viacom18, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, and the India unit of The Walt Disney Company. Since the launch of its streaming platform in February, JioHotstar has attracted over 600 million users within just three months—including more than 75 million connected TV users.

With 300 million paying subscribers, JioHotstar is now the second-largest streaming platform in the world, entirely built in India, Akash Ambani stated, according to media reports. He further noted, “With a 34% TV market share, equal to the next three networks combined, we are well on our path to serve a billion screens across mobile, TV, and CTV devices.”

Highlighting the growth of the group’s digital news arm, Ambani also shared that Firstpost is emerging as India’s leading digital-first global news brand. In May 2025, it crossed 400 million video views, becoming the most viewed Indian English news channel on YouTube globally.

Robert Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, said, “JioStar has quickly established itself as a global force in media and entertainment with nearly 300 million paid subscribers.” The updates shared at the AGM mark a major shift in India’s digital and streaming space, with JioStar leading the way.
