India’s seven-run victory over England in a high-scoring semifinal to advance to the final of the T20 World Cup, saw constant momentum swings and nearly 500 runs scored across 40 overs.
India posted a total of 253, while England finished on 246, with both teams maintaining aggressive scoring rates throughout the game. India’s run rate stood at 12.65 per over, compared with England’s 12.30.
The match saw several shifts in momentum. India started strongly in the powerplay, reaching 55 runs after the first five overs compared with England’s 45. However, England briefly took the advantage after a strong sixth over helped them move ahead to 83 runs against India’s 73 after seven overs.
India responded with a quick counterattack in the eighth and ninth overs, scoring 39 runs in two overs to regain control of the match. By the halfway mark, both teams were tied at 119 runs, reflecting the evenly matched contest.
England again edged ahead during the middle overs, reaching 185 after 15 overs compared with India’s 177. The game remained finely balanced, with India holding a slim two-run lead after 18 overs.
The decisive moment came in the 19th over when India scored 20 runs while England managed just nine, creating an 11-run swing that proved crucial in the final result.
The victory sends India into the T20 World Cup final scheduled for 8 March 2026, keeping hopes alive for the team to secure the tournament title.
