The Bhojpuri film Dulhaniya Naach Nachaave, released on 14 December on the death anniversary of legendary lyricist Shailendra, has so far been watched by nearly 30 million viewers. Recently, the film was honoured with the Best Family Film Award at an event held in Ayodhya. The making of such films in Bhojpuri cinema is a very positive sign. The songs of the film have been penned by renowned litterateur Manoj Bhawuk.
Manoj Bhawuk’s lyrics have truly won the hearts of the audience. The film’s title song “Dulhaniya Naach Nachaave” has become a popular catchphrase, with around 2.5 million listens within a month. Another song, “Beti Khaatir Kavan Ghar Aapan”, is so deeply emotional that it brings tears to listeners’ eyes. Songs like “Hum Jethani, Tu Devrani” and “Banal Rahe Suhaag”, rooted in family values, have also been very well received.
Whenever lyricist Manoj Bhawuk and composer Rajneesh Mishra come together, they create magic. Be it the iconic song “Tor Baurahwa Re Maai” from the film Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna or all the songs of the recently released film Aapan Kahaaye Waala Ke Ba, this duo has consistently created history.
Manoj Bhawuk is not just a lyricist; he is also a television journalist, a celebrated literary figure, an editor, and a well-known poet. His book on Bhojpuri cinema, * Bhojpuri Cinema Ke Sansar *, has earned him the reputation of being an encyclopedia of Bhojpuri cinema. He has been honoured with Filmfare, Femina, Delhi Press, Bharatiya Bhasha Samman, and several international awards.
At a time when contemporary Bhojpuri film songs have distanced audiences from Bhojpuri cinema itself, lyricist Manoj Bhawuk has emerged as a ray of hope. While evoking memories of legendary lyricists like Shailendra, Majrooh, Anjaan, and Laxman Shahabadi, he speaks to the sensibilities of the present generation.
As for the film, Dulhaniya Naach Nachaave is a classic Bhojpuri family drama. The story begins with the oppression faced by a simple, gentle daughter-in-law (played by Shubhi Sharma) at her in-laws’ home. The narrative takes an interesting turn with the entry of a strong, assertive daughter-in-law (played by Smriti Sinha), who teaches everyone a lesson and turns the tables. Both Smriti Sinha and Shubhi Sharma have delivered outstanding performances. Supporting actors Anshuman Singh, Shivam Tiwari, Kanchan Mishra, Ramsujan Singh, Prakash Jais, and Rinku Bharti have also done full justice to their roles. Preeti Maurya’s special guest appearance has emerged as an added attraction. Produced under the banner of Renu Vijay Films Entertainment, the film is produced by Dr. Sandeep Ujjwal and Sushant Ujjwal. The film is written, directed, and musically composed by Rajneesh Mishra. Cinematography is by Devendra Tiwari, editing by Dinesh Prajapati, action choreography by Heera Yadav, and dance choreography by Vivek Thapa.
