Today is the birthday of Munnish Puri whose professional journey spans investment banking, media, and international content production. He is currently Chief Executive Officer on a consultancy basis at Rainshine Global Inc., a role he has held since October 2023.

Under his leadership, Rainbox has worked on Young Captain Nemo, Sahir Ludhianvi: The Wizard of Words, Spy King, and Tamak: The Rage Within. Feature projects include Bijoya, Delivery Boy, and Jhamela. The studio also acquired adaptation rights to the biography of poet and songwriter Sahir Ludhianvi, following years of research and documentation. Before his current role, Puri was Chief Relationship Officer and Financing Lead at RainBlox from 2021 to 2023, managing partnerships and financing strategies across India, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East.
From 2009 to 2019, he founded and managed Indian Film Advisors and Indian Financial Advisors. The two firms, under the positioning “Only Content Matters” and “Only Trust Matters,” advised content ventures and provided financial advisory services for nearly a decade.
Between 2007 and 2009, Puri served as Chief Operating Officer of Mirchi Movies Limited, a subsidiary of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (Times Group). During his tenure, Mirchi Movies achieved a valuation more than 15 times its initial corpus. He also represented the company in a landmark intellectual property rights case, Warner Bros Entertainment vs. HK & Others, working alongside Arun Jaitley and Prathiba Singh.
From 2004 to 2007, Puri was COO at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd., overseeing Events Management, Out of Home, and Filmed Entertainment businesses. He managed entertainment assets such as the Filmfare Awards, Femina Miss India, and Mr. India. He also contributed to the launch of Times Out of Home and the public listing of Entertainment Network India Limited (ENIL) in 2006.
Earlier, Puri pursued entrepreneurial ventures through Miracle Cinefilms Private Limited, producing Being Cyrus (2002–2004), and Miracle Entertainments Private Limited, where he invested in an internet venture later partnered with the Tata Group (2000–2002).
He began his career in finance at J.P. Morgan between 1995 and 2000, raising nearly $1 billion for private companies across sectors such as media, technology, and healthcare. He previously interned at Morgan Stanley in 1994 during his MBA, working in New York and Mumbai.
