X, formerly known as Twitter, has slashed its subscription rates in India by up to 48%. This decision was made to make services more affordable in one of the world’s most price-sensitive markets.

The Premium tier on mobile, previously priced at Rs 900 per month, is now available for Rs 470. On the web, the same tier has been reduced from Rs 650 to Rs 427. The Basic tier has also seen a drop, from Rs 243.75 to Rs 170 per month, while its annual plan now costs Rs 1,700, down from Rs 2,590.

The Premium Plus plan will also see a major cut. Web subscribers will now pay Rs 2,570 instead of Rs 3,470, while mobile users will be charged Rs 3,000, down from Rs 5,100. This top-tier subscription offers an ad-free experience, tools for long-form content, and access to the SuperGrok AI assistant, powered by Grok 4.

These price adjustments are said to be a component of Elon Musk's plan to increase user engagement and growth in India. According to industry experts, this fits with a larger IT trend that involves adjusting prices to fit emerging areas where internet and mobile usage is growing quickly.

The main cause of the price discrepancies between the web and mobile versions is largely due to commission fees charged by app store platforms.

X seems to be stepping up its efforts in India, a crucial market for subscription-based growth, with these updated pricing.
