AI awareness in India is growing rapidly, but everyday usage remains largely limited to English-speaking metro users. For the 470 million internet users across Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns, language can remain a barrier to confidence and opportunity. To address this gap, Google India has launched a Google Gemini campaign featuring none other than Shah Rukh Khan.

Conceptualised and written by Prasoon Joshi, Chairman, Omnicom Advertising India, and developed by Google with McCann India and Nirvana Films, the campaign positions Gemini as a supportive friend who listens, understands and helps people move forward, making AI feel accessible and less intimidating with its multilingual capabilities.

Rooted in the insight that people don’t struggle because they lack ambition, they struggle because they often don’t have someone to ask. In Bharat, progress is deeply personal but rarely achieved alone. With Gemini speaking their language and behaving like a supportive friend, AI feels far more approachable.

The campaign positions Gemini as a friendly voice who listens, understands and removes barriers without judgment. While Gemini works across text, video, speech and images, the campaign focuses on deeply helpful and personal experiences, turning language anxiety into confidence.

Commenting on the campaign, Shekar Khosla, Vice President - Marketing, Google India said, “Technology truly weaves its magic when it stops being just a tool and starts becoming a companion in life's everyday moments. With Google Gemini, we aren't just bridging the gap between aspiration and achievement; we are speaking to the very heart of India—in our own languages, our own emotions, and our own comfort zones. It's been wonderful working with Shah Rukh Khan and Prasoon to help bring this vision to life, and we hope it becomes the fuel for your daily wins, unlocking new ideas and possibilities in every moment."

Prasoon Joshi, Chairman, Omnicom Advertising India, added, “These aren’t just slice-of-life stories. They come from moments that have stayed with me, and I hope they resonate with audiences. At their core, these stories are about connection, how we reach out, understand, and navigate moments of uncertainty. With Google Gemini, we explored how technology can support that process quietly, not by standing out, but by blending into everyday life. By placing Gemini within these moments and allowing people to speak in their own language, we aimed to make it feel less like a machine and more like a companion.”

Shah Rukh, as always, brought honesty and warmth to the stories, while Prakash Verma shaped every nuance with sensitivity. Gemini responds conversationally, using its multimodal capabilities where relevant. Rather than simply providing an answer, it continues the interaction, reinforcing its role as an active conversation partner rather than a traditional AI assistant. The campaign closes with “Ab Dost Hai Saath, Khul Ke Karo Baat”, reinforcing Gemini’s role as a friendly voice that helps bridge the gap between aspiration and achievement.
