Since the beginning of the ICC World Cup 2015 buzz, one campaign that has captured all eyeballs is Star Sports' #MaukePeChauka campaign. In a humorous and sporting vein, the channel has been able to kindle the cricketing spirits all across the country (read Internet).
The campaign takes a detour from the standard patriotic, flag-waving promotions, and tickles the viewers’ funny bone. The narratives revolve around India’s World Cup history with each country.
While the first ad showed a Pakistan fan desperately waiting for a chance to burst a crate of firecrackers if and when Pakistan won the India-Pakistan match, the second ad shows a bunch of teenagers sitting and watching a match when two South African fans hand them a crate of firecrackers and walk away singing "Mauka, Mauka".

India’s defeat of South Africa in its cricket World Cup tie saw Star Sports releasing the latest edition of the campaign, titled ‘#MaukePeChauka!’, immediately after the match on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Recalling the ‘Mauka Mauka’ film ahead of the India-South Africa match, where two SA fans good-humouredly taunted an Indian cricket fan. This is a continuation of the campaign series that started with the ‘Firecracker’ film before for the India-Pakistan tie.
The ‘#MaukePeChauka!’ film features the Pakistani fan from the first film, now wearing a South African team jersey, watching the India-South Africa game with the two South African fans from the previous film. As we hear the commentator announcing that India has beaten South Africa for the first time in the World Cup, the Pakistani shows his frustration by breaking a firecracker and removing the South African jersey as the door bell rings. When he opens the door, he is greeted by a fan of the UAE cricket team who offers him the UAE jersey, against whom India is playing next. The film ends with the voiceover announcing, ‘Yeh World Cup nahin, yeh hai World vs India’.
The ad has got over 7.5 million views on YouTube.
