Building on his previous role of Contributing Editor at Huffington Post India, journalist Shivam Vij has now been appointed as Deputy Editor of the digitally native publication. Vij’s last full-time job was at Scroll where he worked in the capacity of Associate Editor.
Since his departure from the left-leaning website in June 2015, he has been contributing blogs to HuffPost’s website. Vij chose to not respond when exchange4media requested him to elaborate on the responsibilities that he will be shouldering in the future.
Launched in 2014, HuffPost India is published in partnership with the Times Group. The editorial operations of the website are managed by Sruthijith KK. In an interview with exchnge4media last month, Ashit Kukian, President – Revenue at Times Network, sounded upbeat about Times Group’s joint ventures with international brands.
“As leaders, you only want to be associated with leaders. I think it is no surprise that when anything that is big worldwide comes to India, they have to look at us,” he had said. Besides churning out daily news reports on current affairs, HuffPost has crowdsourced content for its blogs section. In the process, the website has established an enviable pool of contributors including academicians, entrepreneurs, newsmen and policy makers.
“I follow HuffPost regularly and I like that the blogs are on varied topics,” said Gowhar Geelani, a journalist and analyst. He mentioned that the website has offered perspectives of different writers on the same issue thereby generating diverse opinions.
The recent years have been quite an eventful one for The Huffington Post. In August 2016, Arianna Huffington, co-founder of the news media venture, decided to call it quits after having spent more than a decade to scale up HuffPost. The journey recorded several highs and eventually led to HuffPost being acquired by AOL in early 2011. Shortly after, the website won a Pulitzer Prize in 2012 for national reporting. For more updates, be socially connected with us on
