Kerala-based gaming technology startup ARC has raised Rs 10.5 crore in a pre-seed funding round led by Chimera VC and MIXI Global Investments. Dhruv Vohra, Director at Meta APAC, also participated in the round in his personal capacity, as per media reports.

The startup will use the funds for hardware engineering, product validation, manufacturing and supply-chain readiness, while also advancing its gaming operating system, OWL OS, and software platform. The capital will further support team expansion and go-to-market initiatives.

Founded by Jobin Joseph and Kaustubh K. Jadhav, ARC is developing ARC X1, a portable gaming device that combines proprietary hardware and software. Built on ARM architecture and Qualcomm technology, the device is designed to support Android, PC and cloud gaming.

ARC said ARC X1 has secured more than 50,000 waitlist sign-ups ahead of its commercial launch. The startup has also collaborated with Qualcomm during the device's development.

The company is currently testing the product with gamers and using their feedback to refine the device ahead of launch. With the fresh capital, ARC plans to continue product engineering and validation, prepare its manufacturing and supply-chain operations, expand its team and build partnerships ahead of the ARC X1 launch.
