Uber, Star Plus, Kit Kat, Myntra, Amazon Top Five Ads in YouTube Leaderboard for June
Uber ad with cricketer Virat Kohli fetched the lion's share of views, while Kit Kat's tech meets destination experiment also worked well for the brand
Advertisements for the month of June that topped the YouTube Leaderboard had a common thread around human connection. All creatives communicated a story in a meaningful and emotional way offering consumers a chance to connect with the brand. Ads that dominated the Leaderboard were Uber, Star Plus and Kit Kat, all making the cut at first, second and third spot as the most viewed ads. Occupying the fourth and fifth spots were Myntra and Amazon, respectively. Uber's communication with cricketer Virat Kohli fetched it the lion's share of views, while Kit Kat's tech meets destination experiment also seems to have worked well. Here's the list of top YouTube ads in the month of June 2018:
1) Uber - Badhte Chalein
Uber, the ridesharing app, unveiled its new campaign with brand ambassador Virat Kohli. The baseline ‘Badhte Chalein’ is built around the brand’s new positioning that is intended to build Uber as an enabler of movement and progress. In this campaign, Kohli plays the role of the brand’s voice to help build Uber’s narrative in India. Set against his narrative, the commercial showcases four real life inspired examples of riders using Uber in different contexts, to pursue what gives them purpose. The ad features a visually-impaired rider, an expectant couple rushing to the hospital, a young female doctor commuting to work and an independent mother taking her daughter to an early morning Judo class.
2) Star Plus - Rishta Wahi, Baat Nayi
The channel had recently unveiled its new look with brand ambassador Alia Bhatt. In the Star Plus' ad, Bhatt steps into the world of the revamped channel and interacts with a variety of shows and characters. She takes the viewers along as she witnesses new stories.
3) Kit Kat - #MyTravelBreak
This ad portrays the scenic 360 degree sights and sounds of Munnar in Kerala. Kit Kat also celebrated #mytravelbreak with unique travel destinations of India on its packs. The experiment with ‘tech meets destination’ seems to have worked great for the brand as they've been able to bag considerably high amount of views.
4) Myntra - End of Reason Sale: June 22 to June 25
The spot shows Bollywood celebrity Hrithik Roshan reiterate the USP of the annual sale. It claims to be 'end of reason' sale with people going all out with their shopping-list to grab the most out of the 'end of season sale.'
5) Amazon – Minku Ritu
The TVC depicts the character Minku showing Ritu how to find the best kurta online and how it is actually feasible and reliable. This simple communication speaks about how those who do not buy from Amazon can still join in and buy whatever they want – from the comfort of their home.
