Ranveer Singh’s upcoming film Dhurandhar 2 is making headlines before its release, not just for advance bookings, but also for steep preview ticket prices.
In Mumbai, some premium seats for early screenings have reportedly reached Rs 3,100, while similar preview tickets in Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru are listed online at around Rs 2,400, particularly for recliner seats in multiplexes. Despite the high prices, many of these early shows have sold out quickly, signalling strong demand ahead of the film’s release.
However, as screenshots of booking pages started circulating online, the discussion quickly moved from excitement to concerns about affordability.
One user who checked pricing at a Bengaluru multiplex wrote on X that a single recliner seat priced at Rs 2,400 for a preview show had already sold out, calling the price “insane” in the context of Indian cinema ticketing.
The ticket price for #Dhurandhar2 at this one PVR in Bangalore is showing 2400 for 1 recliner seat, just for paid previews, and it's still sold out. ??

This is INSANE in the history of Indian cinema.??
A viewer from Patna noted that recliner seats in one of the city’s top theatres, which typically sell for around Rs 600, were priced at Rs 1,200 for the preview, effectively doubling the usual price.
₹1200 for A recliner seat?. Usually in this theatre(which is one of the best theatre of my City)for normal movies Tickets for Recliner seat were for around 600 which is 2X for paid preview. I'll not surprise if this film earns 30-40Cr on 18 Mar.#Dhurandhar2 #Dhurandhar2Trailer pic.twitter.com/W8Mos7QLuT

One user post noted that although the most visible tickets online were priced above Rs 2,000, the average ticket price for Dhurandhar 2 currently stands at around Rs 512, with 78% occupancy levels even among the higher-priced seats.
Very Interesting STAT About Dhurandhar .... People Always Criticise About Ticket Prices and I am Completely Agree With This but In Dhurandhar 's Case It's Different ....

Dhurandhar 2 's Occupancy is 78% on Rs. 2000/- and Above ticket Rates ....
I Mean This is Crazy ?
Some viewers framed the discussion in broader terms, pointing out how ticket prices across multiple theatres ranged between Rs 700 and Rs 1,800 for certain shows. At those rates, a family of four attending a night screening could spend anywhere between Rs 2,800 and Rs 7,200, even before factoring in food or transport.
That sentiment echoes a recurring discussion in India’s multiplex-driven theatrical market. Over the past decade, premium formats such as recliner seating, luxury screens and dynamic pricing models have become more common, allowing theatres to charge significantly higher rates during peak demand periods or preview shows.
At the same time, the pricing conversation often reveals a divide in how audiences experience the theatrical market. While some moviegoers view premium tickets as part of an upgraded cinema experience, others see rising prices as gradually turning theatre visits into an occasional visit rather than a routine outing.
₹650 for a Dhurandhar2 ticket at Inorbit Mall Malad on 18 March.

Don’t you think that’s too high for common people?
We talk about bringing audiences back to theatres but at this price it feels like cinema is only for privileged people.#DhurandharTheRevenge #Dhurandhar2… pic.twitter.com/1XozdxsWRz
In many ways, the debate over Dhurandhar 2’s ticket prices goes beyond a single film, highlighting the changing economics of moviegoing in India, where high demand for major releases exists alongside concerns about affordability for wider audiences.
For now, the question is not only how strong Dhurandhar 2’s opening will be at the box office, but also how much viewers are willing to pay to see it on the big screen.
