BEA has come out strongly against the move of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to the effect that renewal of permission for TV channels would be considered subject to the condition that “the channel should not have been found guilty of violating the terms and conditions of the Programme Code on five occasions or more”.

The Broadcast Editors’ Association (BEA) elected its new executive body at its AGM held on October 7, 2011. Shazi Zaman (Star News) has been re-elected as President. Arnab Goswami (Times Now) and Pankaj Pachaury (NDTV) have been elected as Vice-Presidents, while NK Singh (Sadhna News) has been elected as General Secretary and Sudhir Chaudhary (Live India) as Treasurer.
