Strategic communications veteran Paroma Roy Chowdhury has joined APCO Worldwide as Senior Advisor, marking her return to the consulting space with a focus on public affairs, policy communications, and strategic advisory mandates.
Chowdhury shared the development through a LinkedIn post, stating that she will work on multiple industry mandates, with a particular emphasis on technology and tech-enabled organisations, alongside select government projects. She also highlighted that policy-focused work, especially advocacy and policy communications, has increasingly become a key area of interest for her in recent years.
Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Washington DC, APCO Worldwide is a global public affairs and strategic communications consultancy with operations across more than 30 locations worldwide. The firm offers services spanning crisis management, government relations, public affairs, and strategic communications.
In her post, Chowdhury said she is looking forward to working with Valerie Pinto, who recently took over as Managing Director of APCO India.
Prior to joining APCO, Chowdhury served as Advisor Outreach at Ashoka University. Over a career spanning nearly three decades, she has held leadership roles across sectors including media, telecom, technology, education, and startups. Her previous stints include roles at BYJU'S, Google, Bharti Airtel, Dream11, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. She has also worked extensively in business journalism and financial services, building expertise in strategic communications, reputation management, advocacy, and public policy.
Chowdhury described the move as a new chapter focused on creating “lasting impact” through policy and communications work, while continuing to prioritise strategic communications and reputation building.
