- Hindustan Times has appointed Bobby John Varkey as the National Resident Editor for HT City, its flagship Entertainment, Features, and Lifestyle section.
- Varkey returns to Hindustan Times with over 25 years of experience in print and digital media, having previously held senior editorial roles at various leading publications.
- His recent position was launching Flaunt, a luxury and lifestyle digital product at Network18, and he has also worked with The Man, Men’s Health, and Moneycontrol.
- Varkey will lead HT City’s editorial direction, reporting to Sonal Kalra, and succeeds Neha Sharma, who left the organization after over 15 years for personal reasons.
Hindustan Times has appointed seasoned editor and journalist Bobby John Varkey as National Resident Editor, HT City, the newspaper’s flagship Entertainment, Features and Lifestyle offering.
Varkey returns to Hindustan Times, where he has previously held senior editorial roles and written extensively across entertainment, lifestyle, travel and features in HT Digital and previously at HT Mint. He brings with him over two and a half decades of experience across print and digital media, with a career spanning leading publications and platforms across entertainment, lifestyle and journalism.
Over the years, Bobby has held senior editorial roles across the media industry, including as Editor-in-Charge of The Man, the premium lifestyle magazine from the Malayala Manorama Group. He was also the Managing Editor of Men’s Health at the India Today Group and Moneycontrol where he has served as Consulting Editor.
His most recent assignment was to launch Flaunt, a luxury & lifestyle digital product by firstpost.com at Network18. Varkey’ editorial work has covered a wide range of subjects, from Bollywood and television to fashion, travel, popular culture and lifestyle.
At Hindustan Times, Bobby will lead the editorial direction of HT City nationally, strengthening its entertainment, features and art/culture offerings across print, digital and events. He will report to Sonal Kalra, Chief Managing Editor and Head of Entertainment, Features and Lifestyle, Hindustan Times.

Bobby succeeds Neha Sharma, who moves on from Hindustan Times for personal reasons after an association of more than 15 years with the organisation. During her long tenure, she has been an integral part of the evolution of HT City and its editorial offerings including HTCity’s flagship lifestyle event Hindustan Times Most Stylish Awards.
