Tanmay Maheshwari, Managing Director of Amar Ujala Limited, has been elected Deputy President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS).

Maheshwari moves into the role after serving as Vice President of the Society during the 2025–26 term, marking another step in his association with the apex body representing publishers of newspapers, magazines and periodicals in India.

A senior media industry executive, Maheshwari has been Managing Director of Amar Ujala Limited since 2022. He has been closely involved in the growth and evolution of the media group across print and digital platforms.

Maheshwari has held several positions within INS over the years. Before becoming Vice President in 2025–26, he served as Honorary Treasurer of the Society for multiple terms.

He has also been associated with wider industry bodies and currently serves on the South Asia Division Board of the International News Media Association (INMA).

His elevation comes at a significant time for the newspaper industry, which continues to navigate shifts in consumption patterns, digital transformation, audience measurement, advertising dynamics and rising input costs.

As Deputy President, Maheshwari is expected to play a key role in INS’s engagement with publishers, advertisers, policymakers and other stakeholders on issues concerning the growth and sustainability of the newspaper and publishing ecosystem.
