Google India’s legal head Bijoya Roy has stepped down after just 16 months at the company, according to media reports. Roy’s exit adds to a series of senior-level changes at the firm.
Bijoya Roy stepped down last month after a tenure of about 16 months, stated one of the reports, quoting sources.
According to the report, the source indicated that Roy resigned for personal reasons and plans to start her own venture.
Roy’s departure comes at a time when Google is dealing with a complex regulatory landscape in India, including antitrust investigations, legal questions around the use of data for training artificial intelligence systems, and recently introduced compliance requirements related to online content removal that came into force in February.
Roy’s resignation comes after the exit of Sreenivasa Reddy, who headed public policy for the country, last year. His position is yet to be filled.
