The News Broadcasters Association (NBA) has called an emergency meeting of its board to discuss the TRP manipulation case.
In the case which is being called ‘TRP racket’, the Mumbai police has named a national news channel alongside two other regional channels, accusing them of tampering with BARC data.
Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh yesterday said the city police are probing the scam involving manipulation of TRPs by distorting the apparatus used by BARC to rate television channels.
The police said the accused were bribing households to keep a particular channel running. Two accused have been arrested.
Owners of Marathi channels - Fakt Marathi and Box Cinema - were arrested.
