ICC CWC’11: India-Sri Lanka finals rate 23.21; India-Pak numbers at 20.98

The advertiser’s ‘Dream Cup’ has delivered dream ratings for the India-Pakistan semi-final match and the final match between India and Sri Lanka.

Data from TAM Sports shows that for the target group C&S 4+ in the all India market, the India-Pakistan semi-final has rated 20.98. The final, on the other hand, where India played Sri Lanka and won the ICC World Cup after 28 years, has rated 23.21.

Media observers and decision makers had told in an earlier conversation to exchange4media that even as a final was a final and the peak ratings would be higher for the final match, at an overall level, the numbers would be marginally higher than India-Pakistan, if at all.

Did the final match pick up in the last hour, when India was inching closer to victory? Did people tune off when Sehwag and Sachin’s wickets dropped nearly back to back? Which market responded the highest to the match?

Watch this space for the viewership pattern of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 final match.
