Prasar Bharati has finally decided to telecast filmmaker Prakash Jha's controversial film ‘Lok Nayak’, based on the life of Jai Prakash Narain on Doordarshan.

The film commissioned by the Ministry of Culture created great controversy after Doordarshan refused to telecast it on October 11, the birth centenary of Jai Prakash Narain, mainly on account of some objectionable references to the Emergency.

According to sources in Doordarshan, the film has been finally cleared after Jha agreed to make some minor changes in the objectionable portions. The film has now been rescheduled for telecast in the first week of December on DD National under the regular feature film slot.

Prasar Bharati has meanwhile shelved its plans to hold a joint press conference of its CEO KS Sarma and Prakash Jha in New Delhi on November18 to announce their decision to telecast the film on Doordarshan.
