The Delhi High Court has granted an interim order protecting the personality rights of Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor-in-Chief of DD News, following his petition over the spread of allegedly misleading content and AI-generated videos about him on social media, reports LiveLaw.
Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora approved Chaudhary’s request to add more links to deepfake videos circulating on YouTube. The court ordered that copies of the directive be sent to the defendants, including Google LLC, and required the removal of all infringing content within 48 hours.
The court further instructed that Chaudhary may notify Google LLC and Meta Platforms about any content identical to that challenged in the suit, which must be taken down within the same timeframe.
In addition, the court ordered the defendants to provide basic subscriber information within three weeks to assist in identifying the sources of the offending material.
