First set of Phase III auctions expected by April 24, 2015

First set of Phase III auctions expected by April 24, 2015

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), on Monday, released a Notice Inviting Application (NIA) for the e-auction of the first batch of Phase III frequencies.

The NIA lays out the rules and timetable for the auction process. As per the document, the auction process will start by April 24, 2015, though it could get delayed if the requisite formalities take time to complete.

Last week, the ministry had announced the format of the Phase III migration for current license holders. Operators wanting to move to Phase III need to submit their application by March 9 and before March 23, the ministry had said.

MIB releases migration undertaking letter

Prior to the actual auctions, the ministry will hold a mock auction to familiarize operators with the process. A pre-bid conference will also be held on March 10, 2015.
