The Press Council of India (PCI) has taken suo-motu cognizance with regard to the allegation of non-payment of salary to the employees for months by the management of Deccan Chronicle Holding Ltd. (DCHL), Kolkata

The Press Council of India Chairman Justice C K Prasad has noted with concern
that hundreds of employees, including journalists and non-journalists, of Deccan Chronicle
Holding Ltd. (DCHL), Kolkata have not been paid salary much before the COVID-19 broke
out.

While taking suo-motu cognizance of the case, comments have been called for from
the management of Deccan Chronicle Holding Ltd. (DCHL), Kolkata.
