Tara Murali, a respected architect and cherished figure in Chennai’s cultural circles, passed away on Saturday evening at her home in Chennai after battling a prolonged illness. She was 75.
Tara Murali was widely known as the wife of N. Murali, the Director of The Hindu Group and was admired for her quiet yet impactful contributions to the city’s architectural and cultural landscape. Alongside supporting numerous arts and educational institutions, she championed Chennai’s rich heritage and classical arts scene.
Her cremation is scheduled for Monday at the Besant Nagar crematorium, where family, friends, and admirers are expected to gather to pay their respects.
Murali is survived by her husband, N. Murali, and their two children. Her passing marks the loss of a devoted advocate for architectural excellence and cultural preservation in South India.
