  • The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has appointed Justice (Retd.) Yogesh Khanna as the officiating Chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) following the end of Justice (Retd.) Ashok Bhushan's term.
  • The appointment, effective from 5 July 2026, was announced in a Gazette notification dated 8 July 2026, and will last for three months or until a regular Chairperson is appointed.
  • Justice Khanna has a legal career that began in 1986 and includes roles as a District Judge and a Permanent Judge of the Delhi High Court, where he presided over notable cases, including the Nirbhaya case.
  • He retired from the Delhi High Court on 30 December 2023.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has appointed Justice (Retd.) Yogesh Khanna, Member (Judicial), NCLAT, as the officiating Chairperson of the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), following the completion of Justice (Retd.) Ashok Bhushan's term on 4 July 2026.

The appointment, notified via a Gazette notification dated 8 July 2026, has been made under Rule 7 of the Tribunal (Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021.

Justice Khanna will hold charge for a period of three months with effect from 5 July 2026, or until a regular Chairperson is appointed, or until further orders, whichever is earliest.

Justice Khanna began his legal career at the District Courts, Delhi, in 1986 after completing his LL.B. from Campus Law Centre, Delhi. He joined the Delhi Higher Judicial Service in 2000, going on to serve as District Judge of the North-West District, Rohini Courts, Delhi, and presiding over several high-profile matters, including the Nirbhaya case, during his tenure. 

He was elevated as a Permanent Judge of the Delhi High Court on 8 November 2016 and retired on 30 December 2023.
