The Delhi High Court on Monday adjourned the case filed by Madison against the Competition Commission of India (CCI), after hearing from Madison’s counsel that the matter is already before the Division Bench. The counsel noted that the outcome of the present case will depend on the findings of the Division Bench.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav of Delhi HC heard Madison’s case against the CCI. The case will be listed again once the Division Bench delivers its decision. The court has scheduled the Division Bench hearing for 26 February.
Madison has contested the CCI and the Union of India on the extent of the regulator’s investigative powers in an ongoing antitrust probe into alleged collusion in the advertising sector. The company has questioned whether the CCI’s Director General can investigate parties not named in the original order and contested parts of the CCI (General) Regulations, 2024, including provisions affecting advocates’ role and conduct during investigations.
The court also allowed the Bar Council of India to be added as a party and warned the Centre for delays in filing its response, noting the wider implications for lawyers.
