Hyundai Motor India offices are abuzz with action. The auto major is shopping for an agency to take care of its media duties and a decision on the same is expected in a week to 10 days’ time. As is known, Hyundai Motors’ media business is under the custodianship of Cheil Communication at present. The account is pegged in the region of Rs 50 crore.
The pitch process in India is part of the international review, which is headquartered in Korea. The agencies involved at the global level are The Media Edge, ZenithOptimedia, Carat Media and Initiative Media.
However, there is a change in the India scene, as at least Initiative is not a part of the action. Lynn de Souza, Director, Lintas Media Group, said, “Neither Initiative media nor any other unit of Lintas Media was part of this pitch process.” As is known, in India Lintas Media handles the Maruti business.
At present, Cheil Communications handles the creative business of most of the Hyundai brands, while Saatchi & Saatchi have been entrusted to handle the creative duties of Santro and Getz. In a recent development, Hyundai Motor India had announced its plans to launch its own agency in India called Innocean by early next year. The new agency is expected to look after the creative business of all the brands of Hyundai.
