Barbie Designers Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi killed in car crash

As per reports, the designer duo known for specially curated Barbie dolls inspired by pop culture, were killed in a car collision in Italy

Mario Paglino and Gianni Grossi, celebrated Barbie designers and lifelong partners, have been killed in a car accident on July 27 in Italy. 

The collision, which also claimed the lives of two others, occurred after another driver entered the highway in the wrong direction, causing a head-on crash.

According to Italian news outlets, the crash resulted in the deaths of Paglino, 52, Grossi, 55, and Amodio Valerio Giurni, a 37-year-old banker. 

Paglino and Grossi were well known in the global design community for their work with the Barbie brand. The duo had been instrumental in creating some of the doll’s most iconic and inclusive designs, expanding Barbie’s representation of different cultures, professions, and identities.

In a tribute shared after the incident, the Barbie team expressed deep sorrow over the loss, saying, “Barbie mourns the loss of two treasured artists whose work has forever shaped the world of dolls. Mario and Gianni, you will be missed.”
