- Publicis Groupe Chairman and CEO Arthur Sadoun highlighted that Publicis Sapient played a key role in securing two major accounts this year without competitive pitches, likely referring to Microsoft and PepsiCo.
- Sapient reported sequential improvement in Q3, driven by positive growth in the US market, with expectations for continued momentum into Q4.
- Sadoun emphasized the integration of Sapient with media and creative operations, enhancing Publicis Groupe's marketing transformation capabilities and positioning it as a strategic AI platform.
- He noted that while Sapient contributes to the group's growth, particularly in production, it is still too early to predict significant changes in large-enterprise AI transformation spending.
Publicis Groupe Chairman and CEO Arthur Sadoun has said that Publicis Sapient was instrumental in securing two of the year's biggest accounts without a competitive pitch, highlighting the technology business's growing role in driving the group's performance through its integration with media and creative operations.
While Sadoun did not identify the two accounts, he was likely referring to Microsoft and PepsiCo, both of which Publicis reportedly secured without traditional competitive pitches.
Speaking during the group's earnings call, Sadoun said Sapient had recorded a sequential improvement in the third quarter compared with the second, driven primarily by a return to positive growth in the US market. The group expects this momentum to accelerate, with its technology business returning to overall positive growth in the fourth quarter.
However, Sadoun cautioned that it remains too early to expect a significant inflection in large-enterprise AI transformation spending, a view he said is shared by industry experts and peers.
Highlighting what differentiates Sapient, Sadoun said its renewed momentum is increasingly coming from its ability to strengthen Publicis Groupe's marketing transformation capabilities. Sapient is working more closely with the group's media and creative operations to help clients adapt to AI, particularly in how they engage with consumers.
As this integration deepens, it is becoming increasingly difficult to separate Sapient's contribution from that of the group's media and creative businesses, he said.
Sadoun emphasised that Sapient should be viewed not merely as a reporting segment but also as a strategic AI platform contributing to Publicis Groupe's overall outperformance.
He cited the company's enterprise-grade agentic platform as a key differentiator, enabling Publicis to act as a transformation partner for clients rather than simply as a creative or media agency.
Without naming the clients, Sadoun said Sapient had been instrumental in winning the two biggest accounts of the year without a pitch, underscoring the value of its technology capabilities in helping the group secure major business.
He also highlighted production as an area where Sapient provides a competitive advantage. Publicis Groupe generates approximately €1 billion in net revenue from production, and Sadoun said the company's technology capabilities are helping drive growth in the business.
While Publicis has had strong production studios for years, the key differentiator today is the technology platform that connects data with production to deliver what Sadoun described as intelligent creativity.
He said Sapient was therefore contributing to the group's growth in two ways: through an improvement in its own reported performance and, more importantly, through its broader impact across Publicis Groupe's operations.
On the outlook for 2027, Sadoun declined to provide further details, saying it was too early to offer a clear assessment, particularly given the current macroeconomic environment.
