The Hindu Lounge, India’s first experience store from a publishing house, has launched a first-of-its-kind online store that brings back to life glorious moments that have shaped our world, in a new and exciting avatar – The Hindu Lounge Online. In response to the overwhelming success of the physical store at the Express Avenue Mall in Chennai, this portal is launched as the Group commemorates its 140 years in journalism.

Loyalist readers claim this is the one newspaper they must read every day. In an attempt to engage with audiences beyond the print newspaper, we are launching an online shopping portal at https://lounge.thehindu.com/

With a varied range of collectibles available to buy, the store is broadly classified into four categories – The Madras Edition, Personalised Collection, Restored Collection and Handmade Collection. Madras Edition deals with products of nostalgia and quirk authentic to the City from coffee mugs, photo frames, coasters and more. Restored Collection is a one-stop-shop for all things upcycled, made from old editions of our own newspaper and magazine – there’s baskets, pen holders, coasters, tea sets and much more. Handmade Collection is the very representation of style and class – khadi journals, handmade paper, envelopes, gift tags, brass metal bookmarks and more have been beautifully crafted in collaboration with Anand Prakash. We will be expanding shortly to other city and thematic collections.

The store’s highlight is the Personalised Collection – a framed front page reprint of The Hindu, be it a significant news milestone (such as the news of Independent India or Team India’s 1983 World Cup win) or personal landmark (birthday or anniversary or any special occasion).

On this occasion, Selva Prabu, Brand Manager, The Hindu Group, said, “Encouraged by the response at our physical store, we are excited to launch an online store to service readers beyond Chennai. The city collection evokes an emotional connect with customers and the personalised collection of framed front page reprint has been a big hit for gifts on birthdays and retirements. We are constantly gathering feedback and ideas for new collections, in fact, many of the restored and handmade products are based on ideas from walk-in customers at our store”.
